As I sit here, after a 3 am feeding, I realize just how precious my spare time is. I love my little poop machine, I really do, but he makes it hard to get much done. I believe that it took me a week, roughly, to organize my writing nook so that it’s usable again. Coming to terms with this unaccustomed but not unusual lack of free time has lead me to make a couple realizations.

I miss writing. I miss sticking my headphones in, tuning everything else out, and being in a different world for an hour or more an evening.

Free time is precious. Not that playing with my son isn’t great but with my crochet, writing, housework, friends, and internet addiction I have to learn to prioritize.

I want to get published. I’ve wanted to be a published author since I was in sixth grade. That’s not going to happen with a fan fiction. I love fan fiction and I’ll continue to write it but I can’t use the NaNoWriMo to create a new fan fiction when I have a three ring binder full of original ideas.

So, for all three of my fans, I will write more. Probably not before November since I have to make a life size cardboard guillotine for work but you never know…

And since the baby has fallen back to sleep, I’m going back to bed!

Even though it’s only August, I’m thinking about the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). I have done this every year since 2006 and I normally do an original fiction but with a newborn, I think that I’m going to do a fan fiction since it should be easier. Emphasis on should.

So, below are ideas I’ve got bouncing around in my head. Some have titles and a plot, some are vague ideas.

Leave Lotor a Clone: (Post Series) Zarkon wishes to placate his son’s Allura fascination to keep Lotor from continually making a fool of himself. However, the real Allura is proving to be difficult to capture.

Bizarro Voltron: (Post Series) One of Haggar’s spells to help Lotor capture Allura hurtles the couple into an alternate universe where they encounter their alter egos, Urulla and Rotol.

Rhapsody in Blond: (Post Series) Topic TBD. Possibly an exploration into Allura’s (very blond) family.

Broken: (Post Series) Lotor, on pain of death my Zarkon, gives up his pursuit of Allura. Five years later, she shows up on a slave trader’s auction block. Lotor of course purchases her and braces himself for a fight, expecting for her proud spirit to rear its head. Instead, when she finally sees it was Lotor who purchased her, she throws herself into his arms and weeps for joy…

Ideas

What would happen if King Alfor never died? Would he have defeated the Drules? Would Lotor woo Allura the usual means?

What if Allura secretly yearns to be with Lotor but her pride and fear of her friends’ rejection keeps her from following her heart?

What would happen if Allura focused on expanding her psychic abilities to see more than just the spirit of her father? Would she rival Haggar with her powers?

(Alternate Universe) What if (non-prince) Lotor was the lead singer/guitarist for a heavy metal rock back called Prince of Doom and (non-princess) Allura was a huge fan? Or if Allura was a popular pop singer (and the voltron force were her dancers)? Would the two gravitate to one another?

What if Lotor and Allura got stuck alone on an abandoned transport with no hope of rescue? Would they cuddle together for warmth? Would they express their true feelings?

Hey folks. I just wanted y’all to know that I do plan on writing more but life is getting in the way.

My grandmother passed away this past week. It’s been sort of stressful on the family. I’ve been helping my mother get my grandmother’s estate in order.

Also, I am 6 1/2 months pregnant. So that means that I’ve got a lot of doctors appointments, birth classes, and baby showers to attend. I am also painting a mural on the walls of the nursery, which is taking a lot of time.

So I do plan to write more. I don’t know when I’ll have time though. As soon as I can find a spare moment, folks. Hang in there.

I posted the first chapter of Allura’s Lament, which is the ficiton I plan on working on after Lotor’s Gambit is done. I probably wont be adding a new chapter for Allura’s Lament until Lotor’s Gambit is done, FYI. But I’d love to hear your thoughts on the new project.
